Mikkeli Water Week – Minister’s Award
We have been awarded at the opening of Mikkeli Water Week with a recognition of Finnish water expertise. The award was presented by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland, Sari Essayah during the Finnish Lakeland Forum seminar on June 9.
A new business award was announced during Mikkeli Water Week. The award, named the Mikkeli Water Week – Minister’s Award, is presented to a company that exemplifies new Finnish business and sustainable development in the water sector.
The purpose of the recognition and the € 2.000 prize is to highlight an inspiring example of the commercialization of Finnish water expertise, as well as efforts toward internationalization and export. The award is sponsored by the City of Mikkeli and the Blue Economy Mikkeli Center of Excellence, which promotes R&D, business, and education in the water sector.
“This is a great honour to us, said Nina Harjula, CMO, Sofi Filtration when accepting the award “we were especially happy about the reasoning for being awarded. These three factors are embedded in our company’s strategy: science-based R&D work, clear market focus and strive to make it big in the international markets.”
“This year, Mikkeli Water Week places a strong emphasis on international collaboration,” said Juha Kauppinen, BEM-coordinator, City of Mikkeli. “The challenges related to clean water are shared globally, and so is the responsibility for solving them. We wish see Finnish innovations making their way to global markets, and hope that with our conference and this new award, we can do our part to encourage more teams like Sofi Filtration to succeed.”
