Next Step to Revolutionize Mineral Recovery
We are proud to announce our acceptance into the prestigious ERMA Booster program. Run by EIT RawMaterials this call provides funding and tailored support to innovators, mine developers, and advanced projects in mining, processing, and recycling across the raw materials sector. This milestone, coupled with closing a new funding round, will propel our rapid growth. The team will be utilizing this as an opportunity to sharpen its business strategy, and to accelerate industry-scale demonstrations of its groundbreaking filtration technology.
The urgency to secure critical minerals has never been greater. Finland, as the whole of Europe, is facing increasing pressure to ensure sustainable access to these essential resources while considering the environmental and geopolitical risks of mineral supply. Opening new mines is very time consuming and doesn’t offer short-term answers needed to boost the green transition.
Currently, mineral processing operations lose up to 20% of valuable minerals. Sofi Filtration’s innovative technology provides a highly efficient solution—recovering fine valuables that would otherwise be lost, thereby reducing waste and enhancing resource efficiency.
Scaling Innovation with Industry Demonstrations
With the support of the EIT RawMaterials investment and altogether nearly 1 MEUR financing round accompanied by loans from current owners and Business Finland, we aim to conduct full-scale industry demonstrations to validate its recovery solution in real-world mineral processing applications. By recovering critical minerals from existing processes, while at the same time cleaning the process waters, Sofi enables a more sustainable and resilient supply chain for industries across Europe.
“The current geopolitical situation has underscored the need for urgent action in securing Europe’s access to raw materials,” said Riina Salmimies, CEO of Sofi Filtration. “Our technology offers a way to maximize existing resources, reducing dependency on new mining projects while driving sustainable growth.”
Meeting customers and investors at the Raw Materials Summit 2025
“This investment gives potential co-investors – as well as our customers a signal that we are on the right track: we have been vetted by EIT RawMaterials for feasibility, safety, risks and market potential. We hope to gain as many new contacts from the Summit as possible, said Nina Harjula, CMO of Sofi Filtration at the opening night of the annual event.
