Sofi Prima to Enhance Nickel Sulphate Production at Terrafame Sotkamo Battery Chemicals Plant
We are proud to announce a delivery of our filtration system to a Finnish battery chemicals producer Terrafame, to optimize filtration performance at Terrafame’s battery chemicals plant in Sotkamo. The project centres on improving the process solution purity of nickel sulphate production by introducing the Sofi Prima solution – the world’s first ultra-sound self-cleaning filtration technology.
This milestone achievement is a major validation of Sofi Prima’s impact and relevance in the mining sector. The scope of the project includes integrating new filtration systems to address impurities in battery chemical recovery.
Sofi Prima represents a breakthrough in industrial filtration. Designed to capture ultra-fine particles at low concentrations, it protects process water from contamination, reduces maintenance needs, and prevents costly structural damage. Unlike conventional solutions,
Sofi Prima operates without chemicals or disposable filters, offers energy-efficient performance, and runs independently.
Built from high-grade stainless steel, Sofi Prima helps industrial operators like Terrafame maintain clean, efficient, and resilient operations—while significantly cutting operational costs and water usage.
“This deal with Terrafame not only supports a major player in Finland’s battery chemical supply chain, but it also strengthens Sofi Filtration’s position as a critical enabler of sustainable and efficient industrial processes,” said Riina Salmimies, CEO of Sofi Filtration. “With Sofi Prima, clarity truly begins – and we’re proud to bring this clarity to one of the most demanding environments in mining.”
“As Terrafame continues to lead in low-carbon battery chemicals, we expect this filtration upgrade to play a vital role in improving further our product quality and increasing process uptime, said Jouni Pakarinen, technology manager at Terrafame”
